Welcome to ALL's support pages for the new secondary curriculum. Over the next few months we will continue to add advice, planning tools, resources and practical examples to help you to plan an effective languages curriculum for your school.
Between 23 June and 4 July, Kathy Wicksteed is hosting an online hot seat for discussion about the new curriculum for languages on http://www.newsecondarycurriculum.org. There are a video and a short think piece to kick start the debate. Please do contribute. You need to log in on the website, go to the languages section of the Resource Library, and follow the link to the Ideas Exchange. Looking forward to some lively discussion!

The official new secondary curriculum website
http://curriculum.qca.org.uk has comprehensive information about the new curriculum, including the revised Programme of Study for languages, guidance and case studies.
You can download the revised programme of study for languages here. The PoS applies to Key Stage 3 and comes into force for Year 7 from September 2008. However, the new curriculum takes a holistic view of all secondary education including the 14-19 phase, and we recommend that language teachers get involved in discussion and planning at whole school level in order to ensure that languages play a full role in any new developments.
You can also download here the very useful big picture diagram of the new curriculum.
